Welcome!
How our minds work is a theme of great interest to students of all ages as part of their self-discovery. Models of mind and brain have hardly begun to be incorporated into science and mathematics educational materials in our nation's schools. The CELEST Education Thrust is bringing models about how mind and brain work into math and science curricula at all instructional levels. To achieve this end, CELEST faculty, students, and staff participate in multiple types of curriculum development and educational outreach with various collaborators.
CELEST believes that teaching about how our minds work can inspire students to follow multiple new career paths. The same learning tools can be used to teach practicing scientists and other adult learners about interdisciplinary mind-brain research.
Educational modules on this site are developed in a layered manner, with the first layers requiring no previous background, while later layers introduce increasingly advanced materials in a self-contained way. CELEST hopes that its educational materials will be useful to many different people, starting with grade 7, but including the general public as well as high school, undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
See CELEST TechLab for articles, software, and other mind-brain modeling information that may be useful for students with some background.
