How can the apparently random cone mosaic in the retina give rise to perceptual color opponency that is observed psychophysically? Is chromatic opponency softwired? What are the physiological mechanisms underlying color opponency? What are the implications of softwired color opponency for the dimensionality of perceptual color space? |
