I am currently studying the role of spontaneous activity in sleep in Zebra Finches with Timothy Gardner using chronic extracellular recordings. This will perhaps provide some clues about the function of sleep with respect to vocalization and other motor behaviors--if sleep has such an explicit function--along with vastly improving my eye-hand coordination. There is a non-trivial chance that I will complete this work before the singularity.
Prior to this, I completed a dynamical model of spontaneous waves in the retina with Stephen Grossberg.
