I obtained a PhD in computational neuroscience from Boston University in 2007. I worked with Prof. Barbara Shinn-Cunningham in the Auditory Neuroscience Lab. My thesis work on source separation grew out of research I did under the supervision of Dr. Paris Smaragdis and Dr. Bhiksha Raj during my internships at MERL. After graduation, I worked as a Research Scientist in analytics at Mars, Inc. before joining UTRC in 2010. I'm the descendant of an illustrious academic lineage that includes people like Nicolaus Copernicus, Immanuel Kant and of course, my advisor. My Erdos Number is 3 (via Romeo Rizzi).
