Nov 2009 Prof. Shinn-Cunningham is pleased to have been elected a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America "for contributions to spatial hearing and auditory attention."
Sept 2008 Prof. Shinn-Cunningham was named a lifetime National Associate of the National Research Council of the National Academies of Science "in recognition of extraordinary service to the National Academies in its role as advisor to the Nation in matters of science."
June 2008 Prof. Shinn-Cunningham was named one of the inaugural National Security Science and Engineering Faculty Fellows. The fellowship provides funding for a new project investigating electrophysiological correlates of auditory attention and auditory scene analysis. The project will lead to innovative methods to display important acoustic information so that listeners are not overwhelmed or distracted by competing sound sources. See the article in Bostonia.
